L'Estany de Montcortès
A few minutes drive from L 'Era del Marchant can visit the magical Estany of Montcortes. Karstic lake is fed by groundwater that surface erosion of limestone terrain. Along with that Basturs is the only lake in the Pyrenees which waters are of glacial origin.
It has an almost circular perimeter of 1,320 m. and a maximum depth of 32m. at an altitude above sea level of 1.065m. This is a space within the Plan natural areas of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
Surrounded cañizar, found around meadows and forests of oak and red pine. It is a haven for many ecosystem fauna, especially birds on their migratory routes.
